(Cartagena, SoloAzar Exclusive).- Georges Didier – Regional Director for Latin America and José Carlos Figueroa- Caribbean Regional Manager, granted an interview to SoloAzar in which they talked about the experience at the latest GAT show.

“GAT this year was a success for GLI”, Georges Didier and José Carlos Figueroa, GLI

How was the experience at this GAT edition?
GAT this year was a success for GLI. We were to appreciate a high flow of visitors y from Colombia, and from all parts of LatAm and the Caribbean. We held meetings with various clients and potential clients at our stand with great interest in the local market. Both days were busy days, exchanging information with operators, manufacturers and regulators. Above all, we were to support various clients in the expansion process they are in and facilitated their immersion in various jurisdictions. We return home with new opportunities and new clients to serve. We saw how the participation of Regulators from Panama, Puerto Rico and Argentina provided the chance for exhibitors and visitors to learn about the opportunities in those countries and to advance plans for their incursion into them.

Why is it important for GLI to be in GAT Colombia?
Being that Colombia is a country with a solid regulation in the gaming market, both land-based, online and lotteries, it is always exciting to participate in the events that take place there. We have a large number of clients in Colombia and a lot of potential yet to be developed. Having a stand at GAT is part of our commitment to the Colombian gaming industry, and the desire to support its continued growth.

What are the opportunities in the Colombian market?
The gaming market in Colombia is strong and with precise regulations for each of the existing gaming verticals. At the land-based gaming level, the standards issued by Coljuegos for slot machines and online control systems make the industry once again look at land-based gaming as an opportunity in this solid market. At the level of Internet games and sports betting, opportunities continue to appear for different providers and operators, the activity continues to grow, and as the demand for new products, services of high quality and performance, accompanied by technological progress, ensures that The gaming industry in Colombia is and will continue to be very attractive for local and international investors. GLI has supported all sectors involved in the gaming industry in Colombia, helping them to stay ahead of technological changes. Today we continue as the certification leader in this jurisdiction.

What is your vision of the regulation in the Latam region?
The gaming industry in LatAm continues to strengthen and expand. This year we expect the establishment of new regulations, such as fixed odds betting in Brazil and online gaming and remote betting in Peru. Both jurisdictions have been working on their projects, and this year we should be celebrating their implementation, thus marking the progress of the region. Additionally, Uruguay and Chile have been working on their bills to first regulate online gambling, while in Chile, sports betting and online gambling; Both bills are under discussion, and we hope that at least one of the bills will become law and can be subsequently regulated.

Looking a little to the north, we find the transformation of the jurisdictions in the Caribbean, in which we have managed to lead the certification of the new sports betting markets in Puerto Rico and that of the first casino in Bermuda. In addition, there is currently a transformation in the legal system and regulations in various islands of said region, as we continue to work closely with the proponents of these efforts. These changes have aroused the interest of several of our clients in the Latin American region in the Caribbean markets, and we work with them to support them.

Any comment about the change of place of GAT show
The change was successful. The logistics of hosting, events, and the exhibition flowed perfectly. The participants were able to maximize the time and take advantage of the additional events to continue conversations, do business, or enjoy the beauty of the city of Cartagena.
